Mona Azam, SPHR

My name is Mona Azam, and I bring over a decade of experience in Human ​Resources, characterized by a commitment to empathy and a strong ​business acumen. My approach to HR is grounded in the belief that the ​department should be a source of support and understanding for ​employees, aiming to redefine the often misunderstood connotations of ​HR.


Throughout my career, I have consistently balanced aiding in the success of ​businesses with a compassionate HR philosophy. I strive to humanize HR, ​ensuring it is seen as an ally by employees. By working closely with ​Operations and Finance, I gain a comprehensive understanding of the ​impact of HR on the broader organization, allowing me to implement ​strategies that drive both growth and financial success.


I started Empathetic Solutions to be able to provide these unique skills to ​more businesses and help them achieve their goals while also achieving my ​goal of making HR a more empathetic department.

My professional journey spans across all states in the US as well as globally, including the UK, with ​experience in various industries such as manufacturing, hedge funds, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, non-​profits, education, security, travel and hospitality, and more. This diverse background has provided me with ​a unique perspective on the distinct HR challenges and opportunities present in different sectors.


Traditional Work Experience


Senior HR Manager

  • Led a team of five HR Coordinators for two separated entities.
  • Provided support and guidance to HR Coordinators on various issues.
  • Oversaw external onboarding processes, including background checks and new client setup in Bullhorn and Workday.
  • Utilized a ticketing system to manage tasks and generate reports.
  • Managed all internal onboarding and termination processes.
  • Designed and implemented policies to enhance departmental efficiency.
  • Ensured up-to-date and consistent application of company HR policies.
  • Investigated and managed employee relations issues for U.S. employees; provided guidance for global employees.
  • Coordinated disability leaves, workers' compensation, LOA, and benefits administration.
  • Managed the termination process and handled unemployment claims.

Talent Acquisition and HR Manager

  • Managed all internal and external HR inquiries and requests.

  • Provided daily HR guidance to the president and management to avoid litigation.
  • Analyzed hiring and retention trends and metrics within the HR department.
